Ive been using VSCode with the C# extension whenever I can, and it has been worlds better than Visual Studio. The only thing it has issues with is multi-solution projects. I should say, as someone who wrote Java/Kotlin for years on IntelliJ, Rider is a welcome addition to the C# world for tooling. JetBrains really does try to produce the best editors they can.
