Azerbaijan’s drones owned the battlefield in Nagorno-Karabakh –future of warfare
- kumarvvr 6y agoThis is dangerous territory. It will not be long before rouge states and terrorists will start using these en masse.
- Johnjonjoan 6y agoArmenian forces tried to fight conventionally in open terrain against an enemy who had air superiority and fared like every other force that's done the same. In other breaking news - clickbait titles are the future of journalism.
- Kinrany 6y agoThe point is that drones are cheaper and still delivered air superiority.
- Johnjonjoan 6y agoThey didn't, the air was never contested. The fighting happened within Azerbaijan's borders so air superiority was already assured. The only threat to the drones were SAMs that were incredibly ineffective. (Possibly due to age or crew inexperience) NK and Armenia are tiny and received little to no military aid. Is the future of warfare picking on poorly equipped enemies with high tech weapons? If so then we've been living in the future for the last few decades.
- throwawaybutwhy 6y agoThis is some massive bulls * * t propaganda piece if I ever saw one. The drones and their tactics are not Azerbaijani but Turkish. In fact, it is Turkey's military genius that * bloodied Assad's nose (and other parts) in Idlib, Syria despite Russians' local `air superiority` and upended decades of accepted 'truths' about air defense and ECM (electronic counter measures aka jamming) * mostly reverted the course of Libyan civil war * decisively won the Karabakh war For an outsider observer, the Turks have definitely won the 2020 Nobel Prize for military innovation.
