Google Photos still feels like the safest way to keep an archive of thousands of images across my family, agnostic to devices. I’d rather have High Quality backups than losing the originals on some outdated hard drives. The ONLY thing I can’t believe Google Photos doesn’t have is duplicate detection. Even a poor one would do wonders.
