Bootstrap 5 Alpha 3
- ampdepolymerase 6y agoBootstrap needs a design update. It looks quite dated compared to Tailwind.
- gedy 6y agoI know where you are coming from, but both Bootstrap and Tailwind just have default colors, etc but you are encouraged to customize to your needs.
- aciswhat 6y agoOne thing I like about Tailwind is that the autocomplete in Tailwind's VSCode extension really helps to learn the classnames.
- MatekCopatek 6y agoIf you're view these systems as having a particular design, you're missing the point. They're meant to be abstract building blocks that are easy to consistently customize, which makes them a good starting point for your design system/pattern library. Using the default look is totally cool for prototyping or building things where the visual identity isn't very important, but saying that their design is outdated doesn't make sense. If you want a particular design, you can always go to a marketplace like themeforest and get one that will suit you.
- purec 6y agoExactly this. Bootstrap just provides the building blocks and functionality to build websites quicker. Can still style them however you want.
- duxup 6y agoI was working with something using bootstrap 3 recently...I kinda like the aesthetics of 3 more than 5...
- yingliu4203 6y agoAn alternative is [Bulma](https://bulma.io/ https://bulma.io/) that has the similar components but simpler and easier to learn.
- calmworm 6y agoI’ve been using Bulma a fair bit lately. I like it. But I’ve also just started using Tailwind too, it’s another level. One project I’m working on uses both which may get some frowns. Bulma is just quicker and easier for some things.
- andrei_says_ 6y agoAlso check out halfmoon css, with built in dark theme.
- splatzone 6y agoIt took me several moments of puzzled clicking to realise that the components in the blog post (accordion etc) were just screenshots
- aorth 6y agoCool! RTL support is coming to Bootstrap itself (rather than having to use rtlcss to flip all your CSS during build time).
