BMW announces the iX, its next-gen electric flagship
- maxharris 6y agoNo price is given for this car. It doesn't have FSD. The range is too short (the current Tesla Model X goes 371 miles, and by 2022 will go much further). Sorry BMW, this is too little, too late.
- zero_deg_kevin 6y agoIt's also hideous--in detail and in aggregate. It's like a Pontiac Aztek with blue accents and less range.
- mft_ 6y agoPrice is a relative factor; the Taycan is selling well. Tesla doesn’t really have FSD either, yet. The range is probably sufficient for many. I’d be more concerned that it hit every branch as it fell out of the ugly tree.
- thebruce87m 6y agoNot having “FSD” is a feature. Anything under level 5 automation breeds complacency, and Uber proved that you can’t even pay someone to watch the road properly.
- pengaru 6y agoI'm a bit confused why you'd hold it against a brand historically prized for producing "driver's cars" to not offer full self-driving features. Not every EV needs to aspire for autonomous operation to have a share of the market, some of us actually enjoy driving. The linked model rather ugly however, that grill.. oof.
- tiew9Vii 6y agoExactly. I want an electric powered car that's a car I drive but with an electric motor for the advantages electric brings with torque, controlling exact power to individual wheels etc. Some diver safety aids are nice such as adaptive cruise control, blind spot mirrors etc but driver aids don't equal autonomous. It seems that electric motorcycles have this mix right, making it about the driving experience vs how many toys you can add taking away the driving experience.
- pengaru 6y agoUnfortunately there seems to be a significant push for cars to join the ranks of all other gimmicky consumer electronics in the transition to electrification.
- nikolay 6y agoThe grille is so ugly and out of proportions. The glass control disc also does not fit in the whole design. In general, I'm disappointed.
