Racism is baked into patent systems
- mytailorisrich 6y ago> Reading Vats’s book is an important step. So are efforts to empower Black and brown communities to protect their knowledge systems from Western commodification Why this attempt to reduce people to their skin colours and to imply that non-white people are not Western? Also, what about East Asians, then? Frankly this obsession with race and the anti-Western trope is offensive and, in fact, racist and the attempt to pass off patent systems as racist is plain bullshit.
- barnabees 6y agoLet me guess, you're white (or at the very least you haven't had to worry about your race for most of your life). For other people race matters a lot and affects their daily lives; dismissing these arguments by saying that people are obsessed with their race is such an ignorant and unfair generalization that shits on anyone who has been discriminated based on their race.
- zalkota 6y agoYou bring up his race? You’re the racist buddy. You’re trying to invalidate his argument because of HIS race. You are the racist!
- mancerayder 6y agoAnyone who starts a counter with 'Let me guess, you're a...' has already lost the argument and is lashing out, grey them out.
- barnabees 6y agoNice generalization there, unfortunately you're wrong.
- throwaway39x92 6y agoLet me guess, you're white
- DeonPenny 6y agoWhy do people keep doing this. This idea has ruined the humanities and now because complacency its coming for the sciences. This entire argument reads like poetry instead of anything akin how the system works today in this reality.
- erik_seaberg 6y agoIt’s well known that patent examiners are rushed and often miss prior art from anyone when it isn’t indexed in major research journals or their own patent database.
- Nasrudith 6y agoThis is not only complete bullshit but using the wrong overused accusations for it. There is nothing inherently white about patents. Japan, China, and India would be pretty shocked to hear it for one. If anything the tribal situation is either colonalism in not recognizing the indigenous people's prior art or "loopholes" that they deal with purified and quantified products and the long time users didn't. The intent of promoting purification and dose control was by design. Then it gets into the Postmodernism mental illness in complaininf about a laboratory being preferred over a farm field or forrest for invention and acting like it is a cultural construct. Instead of what the actual fucking tools to work with are! Send the article to the internet with a vast array of buffered switches to construct the packets by hand next time before making such a moronic assertion.
