Show HN: Gumroad Analytics on Steroids
- perk 6y agoThis is probably a very useful service for many sellers on Gumroad, and it looks very polished and nicely done! But, is it just me, or are the prices way too low?
- andygcook 6y agoMy guess is that the maker is trying to push people to purchase annual plans to help collet money up front and mitigate monthly churn. Would be curious how much of Gumroad's sales are from a steady stream of monthly revenue vs. one time campaigns. My guess is that most Gumroad creators make the bulk of their revenue at the start of a campaign. If you assume the "per month" quotas are actually the total amount of sales for the year, the price for an annual subscription is between 1.5% and 10% of sales.
- yani 6y agoNo, imo $99/month is extremely high. I pay Google $40 and Slack the same. They do a lot more data crunching and traffic. To get me as a customer, I need yearly payment that is not based on my profits. I am willing to pay anything below $240/year
- harrisonjackson 6y agoThis is pretty interesting timing considering the sale of Baremetrics announced yesterday. Basically Baremetrics for Gumroad instead of Stripe, right?
- runako 6y agoCongratulations on the launch! Feedback: you have a typo on the homepage (search for "montly").
- lpellis 6y agoThere are a few more ('multpile'), see https://app.pagewatch.dev/5bd5f1981870ddba1b713a45b4c6bc56001a7776/spelling/issues https://app.pagewatch.dev/5bd5f1981870ddba1b713a45b4c6bc5600... I think the prices are way too low, anything below $10/month feels the same to me as it is mostly about the friction of entering my payment details.
- cj 6y agoCongratulations on the launch! Sidenote: Looks like your graphs are very nice based on the homepage animation (reminds me visually of Baremetrics). We've been looking to redesign graphs / reporting in our SaaS app for a while and currently use chart.js - any recommendations for libraries to build interactive charts / reports like these?
- duxup 6y agoGrumroad's story is one of my favorite if only because it sort of supports my theory that there are great ideas out there that fail as attempted unicorns ... but are still great ideas / sustainable and maybe the rush to be a unicorn wastes some good potential that could maybe be resurrected: Story: https://marker.medium.com/reflecting-on-my-failure-to-build-a-billion-dollar-company-b0c31d7db0e7 https://marker.medium.com/reflecting-on-my-failure-to-build-...
- opsdisk 6y agoI'm a huge fan of Gumroad and their API. I wrote a minimal Python API client if anyone is interested... https://github.com/opsdisk/pygumroad https://github.com/opsdisk/pygumroad
- jvns 6y agoI wrote a custom Gumroad dashboard for myself. 2 things that have helped me: 1. de-emphasizing daily/weekly metrics. I find that a lot of my weekly / daily numbers are just noise, and ignoring them really helps keep me focused on what's actually important (usually writing something new that's going to help my customers). I think the number I pay most attention to is the yearly numbers. 2. Group sales by product. It's super helpful to see which product(s) people are buying the most.
