Would be cool if this differentiated between tracking and non-tracking (old style contextual) ads.

- k_sze 6y agoWhere do I find non-tracking ad brokers? I know readthedocs.io has its own ethicalads.io ad platform, but they only want developer-focused sites as publishers. What if I have a non-tech site and I want to host some non-tracking ads to offset the bills just a little bit?
- QuadrupleA 6y agoYeah - was searching for a privacy-respecting contextual ad network for one of my side projects (https://lukerissacher.com/battleships https://lukerissacher.com/battleships), but didn't find much. Most ad networks have jumped fully on the surveillance bandwagon. This one looks promising, but at the time (about a year ago) wasn't very established: https://contextcue.com/ https://contextcue.com/
- k_sze 6y agoThanks for sharing that! At least that's something!
- ktpsns 6y agoWhy? If following a link harms your business model, there is something wrong with your business model. It doesn't bother whether your business model is about tracking or non-tracking users. The idea of paying somebody for putting your ad on their space is old and acceptable, but the idea of paying somebody for the number of clicks an ad generated is stupid. This excellent browser extensions demonstrates why this concept should fail.
- QuadrupleA 6y agoTo reward traditional and discourage tracking ads - although if Google and the ad networks detect a barrage of clicks from an IP with this plugin it probably goes right on an ignore list anyway. Re: pay per click model, I don't know. Impressions, clicks, site owner honor system about their traffic numbers, guess there's different ways to do it.
