CBS reality shows must now have 50% non-White casts, network says
- sahin-boydas 6y agoGreat news.
- core-questions 6y agoYes, dictating entertainment content and artistic direction based on affirmative action will probably work just as well in this case as it does in the public sector

- Veen 6y agoI'm curious where the 50 percent comes from. If representation as a proportion of the population is the goal, this will make white people significantly underrepresented according to the most recent census. So what is the source of 50 percent and what's the goal?
- SlipperySlope 6y agoPresumably, CBS wants a younger audience, which is more valuable to advertisers.

- tomohawk 6y agoHow will they measure this? Are they going to do genetic testing of all cast members?
- core-questions 6y agoI for one am glad that CBS will get to decide who is White and who is not. There are some edge cases that it will be great to get their opinion on.
- wryoak 6y agoTwo examples given were Survivor and Big Brother, shows where contestants are eliminated: is the casting requirement only for the initial cast, or does this necessarily change the rules such that two people (one white, one non-White) must be eliminated each round to maintain the ratio?
