On Android, you can ignore Google and use open source applications from F-Droid as your daily driver. If you want to go further you can install LineageOS and strip out Google Play Services. That's not an available option on iOS.

- zepto 6y agoThey don’t have to choose iOS. If they want a choice of stores, or to replace the OS, they can buy a different phone. There are many people who correctly think Apple knows better than they do about what software is safe, and for those people, iOS is a good choice.
