I am really wondering why NonCommercial (NC) software licenses aren't more popular. Of course, the FSF would not consider them "free", but does that matter? As far as I can tell, the Creative Commons NC and BY-NC licenses are pretty popular for (non-software) creative works. Why doesn't the same thing exist for software? You could then dual-license a paid version.
