I don't use an iPhone/etc so I'm curious, do they block remote desktop applications?

  No.
- AsyncAwait 6y ago
No they don't. They don't have a competing service there yet.

Apple Remote Desktop has been around for nearly 20 years.

That's not a 'service', which is the key part. There's no 'services revenue' to be had there.

They don't make billions of dollars from it like they do from app store.

They did block steam link remote desktop for a while
  - zepto 6y ago
You mean it isn’t a way to bypass the store?

Apparently they're blocking rainway end user iOS clients from connecting via external networks to end user host PCs. Local host client and server works as expected.

> This includes platforms to stream games from users local PC to clients Steam Link seems to do that just fine: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/steam-link/id1246969117 https://apps.apple.com/us/app/steam-link/id1246969117 And Rainway also as you note: https://rainway.com/ios/ https://rainway.com/ios/

It does not include those platforms and Steam is mentioned explicitly in the article. Additionally, this article is from August so I don't see why it's being posted as if this is new information. Apple has already clarified their position multiple times since this article was published.

Apple allows the Xbox remote play app functionality. You can play Xbox Series S or X games on your phone from your console. https://www.xbox.com/en-US/consoles/remote-play https://www.xbox.com/en-US/consoles/remote-play

Also Playstation remote play. There's a specific allowance for personal, local-network remote viewing.
