They are not so much pro-Biden as anti-Trump.
- erichocean 6y agoBiden literally won the Democratic primary entirely due to the Black vote in South Carolina. Why act like they don't love him?
- zepolen 6y agoThey don't love him. They hate Trump. How hard is it to understand? It's like giving a vegan the choice between meat and their least favorite veggie. They don't love that veggie, but they will pick it over the meat.
- erichocean 6y agoBiden is going to be the most pro-Black President in history, even more than Obama (due to a better political climate). He literally ran his campaign as a repudiation of Charlottesville and White supremacy. (See: His announcement speech.) Biden's VP is Black, and he personally insisted on that. Racial justice is literally the core of Biden's platform, and he'll deliver for Blacks (and against White supremacists) like no other President in history.
- ed25519FUUU 6y agoThat’s a lot of very hopeful projection on somebody who was in office for 40 years and didn’t exactly vote pro-black.
- ookdatnog 6y agoParent post was talking about the Democratic primary, not the presidential election. Hatred for Trump doesn't explain why Biden would do well among black voters in a race that's not against Trump.
- ed25519FUUU 6y agoJoe had a 20% approval rating and Harris had a 5% approval rating with young democrats during the primaries. How the party managed to ram through two extremely unlikable candidates and smash Obama’s vote record is simply miraculous. https://iop.harvard.edu/about/newsletter-press-release/18-29-year-olds-likely-democratic-primary-voters-prefer-sanders-biden https://iop.harvard.edu/about/newsletter-press-release/18-29...
- erichocean 6y agoBiden the Beloved! But yes, miraculous—or maybe Americans didn't want to vote for another President who is clearly comfortable with White supremacy? Biden's entirely campaign was a repudiation of that worldview.
