Favorite fact about the 2020 election:
Biden not only got more Black votes than Obama, he got a higher percentage of the Democratic Black vote (highest in history, in fact).
IOW, Biden is significantly more popular among Blacks than Obama was in 2008 (or 2012). Amazing!

- gizmodo59 6y agoPartly because of the voter turnout. By % wise its not a huge difference.
- nostromo 6y agoIt's interesting that Trump and Biden both have exceeded the previous record-holder for most votes: Obama in 08. 1. Biden '20 - 74,811,378 2. Trump '20 - 70,554,537 3. Obama '08 - 69,498,516 4. Clinton '16 - 65,853,514
- erichocean 6y agoWell, the population is growing so that's not too surprising. It's the percentages that I find incredible: more Democratic Blacks voted for Biden (by %) than Obama! That's truly historic, and gives Biden a mandate to address racial justice and end forever the white supremacy of Trump and his voters.

- abvdasker 6y agoTo me, a more plausible explanation is that Trump is uniquely unpopular with black voters.
- erichocean 6y agoTrump increased his popularity with both Black men and women. Biden just got an even bigger increase in metro areas from Blacks, and a higher % of D Black votes than any President ever (including Obama in 2008).
