You work at a day job and your parents, your partner, your children, your peers all know about that. The hacker culture doesn't have a method to do that. It can only produce fame, which is only usable for a few individuals. The old system needs adjustments. More and more people see that property alone nowadays makes a suboptimal signal of status.
