In one of my first jobs I was working as a junior in a tiny company of all seniors that constantly did pair programming. I can understand it not working when it's forced by management or something but it was built into the culture of this team. I found the experience invaluable and consider myself lucky to have gotten so much 1 on 1 time with really talented people early on.

Pair programming is the only way I could have been successful. I learned so much so fast. The few of us who got that opportunity count ourselves very, very lucky.
