Is this satire? Did someone use paid time on the clock to write this?
I’m confused, because it starts by extolling the need for a “balanced team” then immediately paints “good” developers as all having the same characteristics (like being competitive).
I got a good laugh at “we don’t have any average developers here”. In my experience, the trait that most reliably predicts overall bad engineering culture at a company is ego.
- yowlingcat 6y agoI think it might be one of those "all press is good press" PR strategies centered around manufacturing controversy. It's a shame how effective that is. I'd like to say that hopefully, prospective customers will see how absurd it is, but I think that this kind of oversimplistic biz-pop-psychology tripe gets really easily embedded. I think that using the equivalent of a horoscope to reason about your product engineering organization seems predestined to end in hilarity, unexpected consequences and obvious failure.
- polotics 6y agoIndeed this has all the characteristics of a promotional listicle like you'd find on many content churners sites. This belongs on clickhole.com or maybe the onion's crew needs to seize the day and create hackerhole.com, now!!!
