I feel like there should be a specialist sturdy podcast listening device, small form factor, with super long battery life, WiFi, web interface, phono jack, maybe also ethernet port.
It would have a pod catcher running in it, and a basic screen to select show to listen to. I guess it would be useful to be able to read show notes.
With all the interest in podcasting lately I would have though it was a good startup opportunity.

- mjgs 6y agoHaha yeah perhaps it is. I like the idea of having something that is super robust, when you’re listening to podcasts it’s all audio anyway, as long as there is a way to select what your listening to, it doesn’t matter that much. Back in the early 90s I was perfectly happy with the walkmans and mini disk players I had, I hardly even took the devices out of my pocket because you could change the track using the remote on the headphone cable. One of them even had a small lcd on the remote so you could read the album and track name. Those were the days.
