- xoa 6y agoYeah, might end up too firey for HN in the present state of things, but I think that the complex systems of organization humanity created before computers are themselves of interest too. A lot of the path-dependency effects, ever rising barriers to alteration due to network reliance, and so on carry right on over to technical standards and systems. And as far as the year, if anything re-reading things like this 20 years on is useful in new ways, it's worth contemplating on what was foreseeable and what wasn't, and try to learn from it. I wouldn't mind being reminded about some 2011 pieces in 2030 either for that matter. Worth trying to pull what we can from centuries of practiced experience.
