Trump’s Special Twitter Treatment Would End with Biden Win

- foolzcrow 6y agoYou deserve a bullet in your head.
- nailer 6y ago> Since the polls closed Tuesday night, Twitter has hidden eight separate Trump tweets for violating the company’s rules, most of them for trying to undermine the validity of election results by suggesting vote tallies are fraudulent and that Democrats are trying to “steal” the presidency. There's a court case about it. They might win or lose, but until it's decided in court, it seems reasonable for each to be able to state their case on Twitter.
- anotherman554 6y agoAnyone can file a court case for anything. It doesn't suggest anything about the merits of what someone is saying.
- nailer 6y agoIn nearly all cases 'public square' platforms for political discussion should have no say about the merits of what someone is saying.
- wkearney99 6y agoyet these are not 'public squares', thus they're free to manage content as they see fit.
- nailer 6y agoYet they are. Twitter is where a significant percentage of political discourse happens. It bring privately owned doesn't alter it's role in US democracy.
- wkearney99 6y agoNo, they're not. They're resources operated by a private company. They're not public property, nor are they regulated as a utility. Wishing it were true doesn't make it that way.
- nailer 6y agoNobody is saying Twitter is publicly owned. You didn't read the comment you replied to: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25024261 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25024261

- taxicab 6y agoGood! You don't get to have a different set of rules just because your brand of politics is nestled up against conspiracy theories and misinformation. This special treatment has already gone on for too long.
- jobigoud 6y agoI really hope they don't end up banning and deleting all the stupid tweets he made, this needs to be saved for posterity. Also he used his personal account instead of the dedicated POTUS one. If Biden uses the POTUS one will this become a democrat v republican thing?
