> Experience four seasons: changes in weather and daylight are a feature and not a bug
This looks like a wonderful offering. With phrases like the above it looks to be one of the first of its nature where government _gets_ the needs of remote tech workers.
- howlgarnish 6y agoWhat they don't mention is the length of those seasons, which in Finland consist of winter, winter, winter and construction. Even in Helsinki snow can fall as early as September and as late as May.
- volument 6y agoIt used to be like that, but that's no longer happening. Last winter, there was no snow in Helsinki at all :(
- stevekemp 6y agoAlthough there was snow and ice as late as May, just around the time I'd planted my carrot-seeds, potatoes, etc. Summer is short enough that there's basically only one growing season for food so that last minute cold-snap really ruined my planting plan!
- repiret 6y agoThat happens in Eastern Oregon too; and in most of the Great Basin.
- zeckalpha 6y agoHere in Minnesota, I’ve seen snow every month except August. We had 10 inches two weeks ago. On the other hand, it was 87 degrees on my porch yesterday.

- kaitai 6y agoYeah, howlgarnish's comment had me chuckling too... shoveled a lot a couple weeks ago...
- Jommi 6y agoWhat are you even talking about this is completely false. It doesn't even snow anymore really.
- howlgarnish 6y agoSnowfall != permanent snow cover. Helsinki still gets snow, it just doesn't stick around as long as it used to. https://www.ilmatieteenlaitos.fi/lumitilastot https://www.ilmatieteenlaitos.fi/lumitilastot
- brobinson 6y agoI've heard from Finns that summer is the "nicest week of the year" so I'm gonna take the four seasons claim with a grain of salt.
- kaitai 6y agoOh, but berry season lasts weeks and is wonderful. Berry season is to me truly the highlight of Finnish nature.
- serpix 6y agoSome years summer is on monday and some years it can last over a month!
- swebs 6y agoThis is all you need to see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helsinki#Climate https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helsinki#Climate Personally, I really enjoy the summers where it rarely goes above 20C/70F. The only real complaint is the amount of daylight in the winter. Look at the mean monthly sunshine hours in that chart.
