Hasnt the privacy issue been helped by using temporary ipv6 addresses? This is why my Windows machines have 3 v6 address with only one being permanent and the other 2 being called temporary? The temporary address did change after a restart.
I checked my Linux VMs and none of them have this security feature yet.

- kstrauser 6y agoYep, and while I'm too lazy to dig into detailed kernel histories, that's been in there for at least 9 years now: https://home.regit.org/2011/04/ipv6-privacy/ https://home.regit.org/2011/04/ipv6-privacy/ Short version: echo "2">/proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/eth0/use_tempaddr turns on privacy extensions on eth0, and makes them the preferred addresses.
