Looks at thinkpad X1, has this already, shrugs.

I have a ThinkPad X1 and it doesn't have any hardware switches.

My thinkpad T490 has a "think shutter" which is basically a killswitch / cover for the webcam. Not sure if it mutes the mike or not. AFAIK, this is an optional feature that might not exist on all models. Of course, you can always disassemble the laptop and unplug the webcam and microphone from the motherboard. https://www.cnet.com/news/lenovo-thinkpad-laptops-now-let-you-shutter-their-webcams/ https://www.cnet.com/news/lenovo-thinkpad-laptops-now-let-yo...

If you get an X1 with the 4k touch screen, there's no camera cover or switch.
