Modern trash incinerators don't have that problem. A friend of mine works in the industry, and they're starting to build co2-traps as well, which makes it an even better choice. I know the US is severely behind on trash incineration compared to for example Sweden, but the knowledge and technology exists, it's just a matter of building the plants at this point.
