One interesting language that is somewhat uniting in the Eastern Europe is Church Slavonic https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_Slavonic https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_Slavonic For the pronunciation it is much closer to serbocroatian than bulgarian of today which seems strange.
