It's always been there. well, for many months at least. I suspect it's easier for pg to implement features than to introduce and document them, and there's not really an obvious place to find them. That is, not unless you want to dive into the source. I'm surprised there aren't more 'hidden features of HN' blogposts floating around. If anybody wants a quick and honest way to slurp up some karma, they should write one.
