The evidence is clear the earlier reports of possible life on Venus are incorrect. Worse, it was a failure of science to have been reported the way it was. Multiple posts on HN have discussed this. This article was posted shortly after the 'discovery' (2020/09/16) but is incorrect anyway. Step one would have been to understand phosphine and life on Earth. It's not well understood. I don't understand why step one would be to go to another planet first. But I guess that's a boring headline.
