Same, have been looking for a slightly different use case: Using RPi as a video capture card that takes an HDMI input and outputs H.264. Even better would have been to implement it as a UVC device that can be plugged in as a video source. I was surprised that gamers haven't implemented this yet as a DIY Elgato project.
