It's using Django on the server and Backbone.js on the client. It was quite a pleasure to code with these frameworks, actually. As for your suggestions, I totally agree with all of them. They are all features I would love as well, and I have some ideas on how to make it so it's easy to plan on every level of granularity, from day to week to month to year, and to make them all play well with each other.
