I don't see a reason why China would prefer Trump to lose. What Trump was doing for sure made China uncomfortable in short term. But in the long run, it would benefit China a lot as he was forcing China to do something it deemed unnecessary or uneconomically in the past and thus depended on external sources. He did in fact helped China to recognize its weaknesses and forced it taking action to rectify them. Once the painful process is finished, then what?
