The company StatSheet (now Automated Insights) has been using algorithms to produce sports journalism and business reports since 2007. It basically takes the score and background information and turns it into a paragraph or two. Earnings reports stories are similar. Those articles are so annoying to stumble on. They rank very highly in search results because the google crawlers like them but they are obviously written by some lame algorithm and are a waste of time to skim. I hate those types of article so much
