GM's Super Cruise Outperforms Other Driving Assistance Systems Such as Tesla
- ethagknight 6y agoI’m sure this has been discussed at length before, but why does GM only offer super cruise on Cadillac models? Is this not a technology that benefits from scale, data, and testing? If they have a good product, get it out the door before the competition catches up, right? I’d buy a super cruise Suburban today but will not buy an escalade.
- MaxikCZ 6y agoSo tesla won in everything regarding quality of assistance, but cadillac won because: it wont activate anywhere but on premapped higways, monitors drivers eyes with infrared cameras to ensure driver is following the road. Capability and performace + ease of use goes both to tesla. I wouldnt call this outperforming other driving astistance systems really...
- aidenn0 6y agoNot helping to you kill yourself is a feature too.
- MR4D 6y agoI bet it outperforms on the mortality scale, which is probably the bias you are seeing with Consumer Reports - the Cadillac is less likely to kill you.
- mchusma 6y agoMost recent tesla report has autopilot accident rate 10x below national average, 2x-4x below tesla owners not using it. Selection bias in results but overall the implication is that autopilot is both safer and that their rollout is very conservative when measured by real world safety. Would require some very different data to imply differently.
