I highly recommend the r/COVID19 subreddit. It is more strictly moderated than r/coronavirus, and is focused on scientific publications and academic commentary over news articles. You also have a decent amount of users visiting there who have a lot of expertise in various related fields. The mood over there has been cautiously upbeat for a while now, at least in comparison to the tone often set by the mainstream media.
