"He was already on the radar of the authorities for having endorsed a massacre at the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo that first published the Mohammed cartoons.
Several knives and other weapons were found at his home, prosecutor Frederic Chevallier.
The man denied being radicalised, Chevallier added."
- sebmellen 6y agoVery important context.
- mrits 6y ago"Several knives and other weapons were found at his home" What kind of horrible person would keep knives in their home?
- thatguy0900 6y agoSome of the British "deadly weapon" arrests read like a parody to me, crazy how different cultural views on these things can be. I regularly carried worst than most of them when I was 12.
- TheAdamAndChe 6y agoHere in rural US, I got my first knife when I was 6 and my first rifle when I was 10. It really is a different world, lol
- thatguy0900 6y agoI tried to make it a point to have the scariest knife in my boy scout troop lol. I got my dad to buy me one of the big hollow handle survival knifes after I saw Rambo, I took that thing everywhere
- mrits 6y agoThe one with the compass on the end and you can hide stuff in?
- thatguy0900 6y agoThat's the one https://www.amazon.com/Whetstone-Cutlery-Survival-Knife-Silver/dp/B0014B7ZH0# https://www.amazon.com/Whetstone-Cutlery-Survival-Knife-Silv...
- fuj 6y agoPretty pathetic attempt at trolling
- tartoran 6y agoIt depends. Are those butter spreading knives? They mention other weapons as well. I don’t have enough info but I’m sure there’s some rule of law involved there so any innocent party has a chance for a fair trial
- abc-xyz 6y agoThe other weapons are probably a scissor and some forks.
- ggggtez 6y agoThe person will get a trial, but I don't think you're being particularly honest when you throw out unsupported arguments that the "weapons" the police confiscated were "butter knives". You're just inventing a strawman that is incredibly unlikely. Don't forget that the more deadly attacks recently have just been using vehicles to run people down. No special guns necessary to go on a killing spree.
- tartoran 6y agoI think you took my argument the other way around I meant it. The butter knifes was sarcasm and personally suspect they found real weapons but I don’t have any info on that so can’t be certain. I also think some of these radicalised youth are extremely dangerous and the rule of law is sometimes incapable of tackling the phenomena but I still believe it should be the rule of law and not some adhoc citizen militia to come to rescue
- tinus_hn 6y agoHis thoughtcrimes are beyond doubt!
- crooked-v 6y agoTo me, a vigorously undetailed 'several knives and other weapons' actually means 'the kitchen cutlery and home improvement tools most people who own a home accumulate over time'. I've got a hammer, a hacksaw, and a few utility knives and that's just for work on a 550 square foot condo and a car, and that's before getting into any of the kitchen stuff.
- sofixa 6y agoAnd do you read Islamists propaganda and "like" videos or photos of Islamist-inspired violent crimes ? That kind of matters, and its what one could call context and premeditation.
