Sheetrock (gypsum) can solve this problem if you use enough of it. But that can get expensive.
- owowow 6y agoUsually fire code mandates a 2 hour fire rating for each unit, so you end up with two parallel air gapped 2×4 walls that have sufficient sheetrock on the one side facing the unit the wall was built for to get that 2 hour fire rating.
