Concepts are a recent addition, but not the only one that has improved compile-time or static programming in C++. The `constexpr` specifier, for instance, was added in C++11 and with every release since then it's been able to replace more and more complicated template metaprograms with just regular C++ code. Other things like generic lambdas and return type deduction also serve to make template-heavy code simpler to both write and read.
