- pridkett 6y agoAirlines have always banned some subset of people from flying them for various behaviors and actions. What would be interesting to understand is how much of an increase this is - both relative to the number of flights and number of passengers - from prior to March 2020. Primarily, because this seems like a safety issue - every time someone gets banned, there is probably an altercation with a flight attendant (they remind people often to put their masks back on) and that’s time that flight attendant is unable to perform other duties.
- kjs3 6y agoI would guess it's a vanishingly small number relative to other reasons for being banned. Don't mention bombs or guns if you're mad, of course. But the habitual obnoxious drunks alone dilute that to virtually nothing, plus the 'flight crew abusers' ("they're just sky-waitresses, so screw them amiright"), and don't forget the 'noble anti-authority protestors' (e.g. any flight crew rules...no, I don't care your views on buckling your seatbelt during take off...I sure don't see it as a civil rights issue). I don't even know how to categorize watching the lady change her infants diaper and stuff the dirty into the seatback pouch...and hour into a 6 hour flight. I've seen so much routine assholery in air travel little could lower my opinion of humanity.
