This. Snopes does not need a smear campaign as they already have very little credibility due to it's blatant political bias and subjective takes on what they think is "objectively false".
- 0xy 6y agoFor example, by rating Trump's claim that Biden used the word "superpredators" to refer to black people in relation to the extremely racist 1994 Crime Bill as "mostly false" because he said "predators", not "superpredators". [1] The 1994 Crime Bill is racist, and so is everyone who supported it. There's no nuance here. It's just Snopes covering up for one side, again. If you can't admit racism on your side, who will believe a word you say when you call others racist? - itcrowd 6y ago> "mostly false" because he said "predators", not "superpredators" Also because he wasn't referring to Black people but rather to young people. You have to read your own link better. From Snopes: " What's True While speaking in the Senate in 1993 in favor of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act, Biden referred to young people who have become criminals as "predators." What's False Biden did not use the term "super-predator," nor did he specifically refer to Black people. It was Hillary Clinton who, while speaking about the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act a few years later, referred to young gang members as "super-predators." "
- 0xy 6y agoSorry, no, he was clearly referring to black people using racist rhetoric. He said they were born out of wedlock, had no parents and hadn't been socialized -- all racist tropes. [1] The bill resulted in the incarceration of millions of additional black people, not to mention the deaths while in jail or from the expansion of the death penalty. He has a long history of racism against black people in particular. [2] Just look what he said about Obama -- "You got the first mainstream African American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man" [3] [1] https://edition.cnn.com/2019/03/07/politics/biden-1993-speech-predators/index.html https://edition.cnn.com/2019/03/07/politics/biden-1993-speec...
