I think that as a society we’re missing out on a lot of important findings and advances that would improve people’s lives because the IQ research has become somewhat of a taboo in social science. Linking it to eugenics is especially harmful.
- mcguire 6y agoBut IQ research has actually been linked with eugenics throughout its history.
- travisoneill1 6y agoSo if eugenicists selected for height, then measuring how tall people are would be "linked to eugenics?"
- yedava 6y agoEugenicists work backwards from a conclusion - that their race is superior. So they look for or invent measures that only their race exhibits. So why would they even measure height? They know other races can be just as tall their own race. So that measure is obviously disqualified.
- mcguire 6y ago"Please respond to the strongest plausible interpretation of what someone says, not a weaker one that's easier to criticize. Assume good faith." By "linked with eugenics" I mean IQ research was used to provide the scientific basis for eugenics policies, including being designed to demonstrate that undesirable groups had lower intelligence.
