Ciaccona with choral interpolations, BWV 1004
- Schiphol 6y agoThis is the Ciaccona of Bach's second partita for violin solo. It appears that it was composed by weaving together various chorales (as explained in the liner notes to this recording, available here: https://www.tenebrae-choir.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/LSO0728-Faure-Requiem-Booklet-LSO-Live-2012.pdf https://www.tenebrae-choir.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/LS...). This is the only recording I am aware of that superimposes the relevant lines from those chorales on top of the Ciaccona. It's very informative, I think, and also very beautiful.
