censorship is going on in the comments too
- iaw 6y agoThere are three competing philosophies in this thread: 1) This is because of communism 2) China is being reasonable 3) This is a crime, what can we do? 1 & 2 are diametrically opposed and downvoting each other whereas 3 gets attacked for being moderate. Calling it censorship is fine but do recognize that it's because your opinion is take poorly more often than not within this thread.
- gentleman11 6y agoThere are several low karma posters (3-4 first time posters) in this thread though, so at minimum it’s encouraging people who rarely participate to join in, which probably seems odd
- root_axis 6y agoDownvotes are not censorship. Half a decade of smart-ass comments like yours have robbed the word of any meaning.
- vaccinator 6y agoThere is censorship on HN... not only downvotes and flagging... sometimes admins move entire threads wherever they want too... There is also the opposite of censorship (they boost some content)
- root_axis 6y agoForum moderation is not censorship.
- vaccinator 6y agoIt is not only toxic content that is threated that way... but I think that they do it less nowadays... or they are getting better at it.
