I would imagine it becomes the airline which you flew’s responsibility to put you on a plane to return you if they failed to verify you had valid entry document

I would imagine it becomes the airline which you flew’s responsibility to put you on a plane to return you if they failed to verify you had valid entry documents for the EU. I do not know this for certain but I believe this is the process followed if someone (somehow) manages to board an international flight without a valid passport
