A minor off-topic comment but, > and a pack of paper wieners baring her face (“so they could actually picture me as a Hotdogger”) shouldn't that be "bearing"? unless the paper hot dogs revealed her face hidden behind them, rather than blazoning it prominently. (in the way a document can "bear" someone's signature)
