Uber got kicked out of Israel as well - the taxi driver cartel wouldn't have it. On the other hand, Japan has amazing taxis and they're everywhere all the time, AND extremely affordable. Japan also has very strict labor laws, and becoming a driver is not the easiest thing in the world.
