Seems like a breach of contract. Adobe should give the money back, at least.

  What if you have assets that can only be opened by that version of the software? What if these assets are worth more to you than the cost of the software?

    Does such an asset exist? If it's worth that much, buy a new piece of software. Adobe isn't responsible for your 13 years of failure to make backups.
