Why not just change the encoding to UTF-8? That would probably also reduce the file size since most of it is ASCII, potentially even halving the size.

- zamadatix 6y agoThat's what is done: "Very fortunately for us, we can use a library to take care of all of this for us. The encoding_rs and encoding_rs_io libraries will let us translate from UTF-16 to UTF-8 on the fly, which will let us send ordinary Rust strings into our XML parser."
