I think such functionality can be implemented only trough Language Server https://code.visualstudio.com/api/language-extensions/language-server-extension-guide https://code.visualstudio.com/api/language-extensions/langua... . Very likely it'll be much easier to add this feature to the standard JS/TS extension.
