27 at the moment and reading this thread has gotten me worried as I have a family history of colon cancer. Both of my parents get checked regularly and have had polyps removed. I wonder if I should just go or if it isn’t realistic to worry about it at my age yet.
- f2000 6y agoI'd talk to a doctor or two. I posted above about a friend diagnosed with stage 3 at 45 who passed on at 49. She too had a family history (aunt, uncle, grandmother)
- btgeekboy 6y agoWhy not just go and get that piece of mind? You clearly have elevated risk.
- hef19898 6y agoI was diagnosed at 28, wihout any colon cancer histry in my family whatsoever. my advice, go get it. Even if it is just for peace of mind.
- Lichtverschwend 6y agoAs I already tweeted the author please consider getting tested for Lynch syndrome if your family tree is full of colon cancer. It will make a major difference knowing the result when talking to the doctors from my experience. Good luck.
- whatrocks 6y agoThanks - my genetic test is already en route! Been meeting with the genetics team at UCSF to look into this exact issue.
