Twitter’s Election Interference
- deleted 6y ago[deleted]
- blackflame7000 6y agoA sad and pathetic state of affairs we have come to when people can no longer debate ideas without attacking people.
- jfengel 6y agoYes, it certainly is. And as far as I can tell, we've been here for around 30 years. Longer, really, though the early 90s seem to me to mark an inflection point in nastiness. From there it has all proceeded methodically to take advantage of new technologies and expand it to its logical conclusion. What's changed recently isn't the nastiness but that people have been forced to recognize that it's not just the discourse but that it has become national policy. Unfortunately, by that point, it's almost certainly too late.
- jim-jim-jim 6y agoSeems like a worthwhile nudge. They should make it permanent. I think retweets are a major contributor to Twitter's uniquely hostile atmosphere, and are the reason I stopped bothering with it years ago. And yeah I know you can disable them on a per-user basis. I'm still happier off the platform entirely.
