Can this work with freenas/nas4free and ZFS?
- 3np 6y agoAbsolutely. Depending if 4GB RAM is sufficient for you (ZFS can get really memory hungry depending on configuration).
- jankeymeulen 6y agoFreeNAS not so much, needs x86, this board is ARM...
- 3np 6y agoShould have specified I was referring to xigmanas (former nas4free). The specs, specifically the RAM, might not be enough to make a it a good idea, though. I might be wrong, but I don't see why one wouldn't be able to build freenas for arm (all the included software should be arm64-compatible), it's just that so far no one took the time to do so and share it.
- danw1979 6y agoI think the more important question is "what kind of reception will I get from the FreeNAS forums if I turn up trying to run it on this ARM SBC with 4GB of non-ECC RAM?". If you've ever lurked there, you'll probably know the answer already.
- wil421 6y agoWill you get a benefit from doing ZFS mirror on 2 drives? Raidz2 or RaidZ3 is much more preferable for ZFS.
- justinsaccount 6y agothere are benefits to running ZFS on even a single drive, so yes.
